Clean Eats at True Food

You can't miss True Food Kitchen.

There's been a big push recently of consumers wanting to eat clean. Farm-to-table restaurants are popping up all over the place, in an effort to provide freshly made food with minimal additives. And I appreciate it. Fresh eats is damn delicious, if you ask me. So I was more than happy to experience brunch at True Food Kitchen in Plano (they also have a location in Dallas, not to mention multiple locations across the United States!).

Love the green sofa!

The restaurant itself is a huge, wide open concept restaurant, where tall windows, sunlight, and bright green benches are abundant. Even when all tables are full, it's hard to feel constricted and packed in, in such a spacious space. And with a menu that offers organic, clean, and vegan options, it's no wonder that it stays busy.

The Cranberry & Pomegranate Mimosa is a pretty looking drink!

I put aside my usual brunch beverage order to try the Cranberry & Pomegranate Mimosa. It was light, refreshing, and palate cleansing. Nothing really to write home about but it was a simple and good drink. The ratio of champs to juices was along the 70 juice/30 champs range so if you like something with a lot of bubbles, you may want to try a different drink. Also, there are no carafe specials here; just crafted cocktails.

A light brunch option, the Smashed Avocado Toast was delightful.

For my food, I had the Smashed Avocado Toast - whole grain toast, featuring smashed avocado, smoked gouda cheese, and topped with a sunny side up egg. Even though it was a smaller entree, it was definitely delicious and pretty filling. It takes regular avocado toast just a step further, with a big pay off.

Brunchlust Rating: B The atmosphere was nice, waitstaff was friendly. It's not a bad choice, if you are in the area and are in search of some healthy brunch options.
