Miami’s Pink Teacup Villa Rules

South Beach soul food outpost, Pink Teacup Villa, is the backdrop for reality tv show, Hustle & Soul. Lunch and dinner is served but the standout here is their weekend brunch. Featuring a buffet and unlimited mimosas, Pink Teacup Villa is the place where you’ll get a party on the side of your meal.

We were greeted by a nice hostess, dressed in the waitstaff's uniform of fishnet stockings and a leotard, that pretty much let us choose where we wanted to sit. The inside décor is pretty run of the mill. There is an upstairs area that was closed the day we visited. However, if you head straight towards the back to the courtyard you’ll stumble into an Instagram worthy experience. There were quite a few bugs out and it was hot so we opted to sit indoors at the bar.

There’s also a list of rules that greets you as you arrive. The buffet is $38, with unlimited mimosas. There is a mandatory 20% gratuity and a 7% buffet fee. So plan to spend $51. It’s South Beach so that’s pretty run of the mill for lunch with drinks at a restaurant. You are given a wristband that indicates what time you arrive. Seating is limited to an hour and 15 minutes. You can also order a hookah upon arrival as well. Expect to pay for drinks after your time has expired.

The mimosas have a special ingredient that I can’t quite put my finger on. Perhaps it’s vodka? The upside to sitting at the bar is that we never saw the bottom of our glasses during our visit.

On to the food. Options included french toast, waffles, bacon, eggs, grits, catfish nuggets and baked tilapia. Nothing really stood out. But the vibe certainly did. The trap rap music made the atmosphere more like a club on a Saturday night. And hey, isn’t that really what South Beach is all about?

Brunchlust Rating: C. I’m not sure that I would come back but at least I can say that I had the experience. Leave the kids at home!
