Seeing The Light At Filament

Hello Lusters! Time for another brunch review by yours truly. Let's talk about Filament, located in Deep Ellum. I fell in love with this place as soon as I walked through the door. Filament looks like every modern, swanky, artistic, loft space lovers' dream. Exposed brick walls. Shelving made from pipes and wood planks. Industrial light fixtures. A subway-tiled bar. It was everything. If I could take Filament and place it in my house, I'd be a very happy lady. But enough about that. Let's move on to the reason you're here: food and drink!

I love Filament's decor. LOVE.

Want drink specials? Filament has them. Rejoice, mimosas lovers! Filament has $2 mimosas for your drinking pleasure. And don't be afraid to ask for different juices. Our table enjoyed mimosas made with orange juice, cranberry juice, and pineapple juice. The juice to champs ratio was perfect. More bubbles than juice, just like we like them.

These Deviled Eggs are heavenly.

Usually, I don't do an appetizer before brunch. I go straight for the entrees. However, this time our table opted to try the deviled eggs. Now I will admit: I love deviled eggs. I make some of the best deviled eggs around. So I'm very picky about them. I'm here to testify: FILAMENT. DOES. DEVILED. EGGS. RIGHT. If I ever didn't feel like making deviled eggs, I'd go here for some. They had the right amount of tang, the right amount of seasoning. Balanced and light. I'm a huge fan.

Chicken & Waffles. Yes please.

I love that Filament has a pretty short brunch menu. There's only a few options for your entrees. They've found their lane and stick with what works. This time I decided to partake in a Brunchlust favorite, Chicken and Waffles. Their version sets it up in sandwich form. Two lightly breaded chicken thighs (my favorite part of the chicken, if you ask me) stacked between fluffy, syrup drenched waffle triangles and featuring thick strips of bacon. And some spicy ranch spread to top it all off. This dish was completely satisfying. There was the right amount of syrup on the waffles; it never got soggy. The bacon strips were crispy and flavorful. The chicken was fresh and juicy. This is how chicken and waffles should taste.

Brunchlust Rating: A With great food and good service, this place deserves all of the brunch love that I can give it.
